The Inspector General of Police Sir Mike Mbata Okiro launches a revolutionary Identification system for the Nigeria Police.

The Inspector-General of Police Sir (Dr.) Mike M. Okiro, CFR, NPM, mni, has observed with concern the use of vehicles without lawful identification marks on our roads. Such vehicles ply the nation’s roads without registration numbers and sometimes covered plate numbers.

The Police Service Commission has confirmed the promotion of 1459 ASP to the rank of DSP, and supplementary list of 239 and 209 Police Officers promoted to the rank of CSP and SP respectively was also released.

The Police Service Commission has confirmed the promotion of Late Haz Iwendi (Posthumously) and 12 others to the rank of Commissioners of Police. Others include 8 Assistant Commissioners of Police and 681 Superintendent of Police.

The sspended Chairman of NDDC, Ambassador Sam Edem, arrested by the Police on 7th August, 2008, was arraigned before an Abuja High Court Zone 5 Wuse presided over by Justice (Mrs) O.O. Goodluck today 18th August, 2008 for stealing eight hundred million Naira (N800,000,000.00) property of Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Police Service Commssion has approved the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, for the promotion of following Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to the rank of Substantive Assistant Commissioner of Police with effect from 12th June, 2008.
