Ports Authority Police Command
The Ports Authority Police Command is charged with the duties of providing effective security coverage for the sea Ports and terminals in Nigeria. The Command headquarters is located at the Nigerian Ports Authority Headquarters (NPA House) 26/28 Marina, Lagos. It has two Area Commands. Western ports with its Headquarter at the Apapa Quays and the Eastern Ports Area Command with its Headquarters at Port-Harcourt. The Western Ports Area Command: (a) Tin-Can Island Port Division (b) Roro Port Division (c) Apapa Port Division (d) Phase I Division (e) Phase II Division (f) Niger Dock Division (g) Lilypond Division (h) Marine Police Division (i) Dog Section
(ii) EASTERN PORTS AREA COMMAND: (a) Port Harcourt Port Division (b) Calabar Port Division (c) Onne Port Division (d) Warri Port Division (e) Marine Police Division Onne Apart from the formations listed above, a Marine Division with its Headquarters at Elegbeta in Lagos and a Police Dog Section with its base at the Apapa Ports Complex, also in Lagos, complements the Ports Authority Police Command’s Operations. The Marine Division runs effective patrols of the water fronts and has been very active in controlling the menace of pirate activities
