ORDER AND DIRECTIVES In line with the re-organization and reformation of the PMF, the IGP has graciously issued the following order and directives, viz; 1. POSTING OF PMF UNIT COMMANDERS AND SUPERVISION OF PMF TRAINING SCHOOLS The IGP has directed that from henceforth, Unit Commanders at the point of entry into the PMF shall not be above the age of 35. This age limit directive is to enable them meet up with the strains, challenges and rigours associated with the conversion course training programme which all intending Unit Commanders had to undergo at the PMF Training Schools. In furtherance of this directive and to properly monitor the training activities of the PMF Training Schools, and ensure that it conforms to set standard, and also to weed out some undesirable elements who are surreptiously mobilized into the PMF; a team from the Compol Mopol’s Office shall be paying periodic visits to the PMF Training Schools and the Squadrons for this purpose and submit its report to the IGP. 2. REPOSITIONING OF PMF TRAINING SCHOOLS In the same vain, and to compensate the trainers for their extreme dedication, commitment and professionalism in the discharge of their duties and to streamline and co-ordinate the activities of the school with the Training Institutions in the Force, as well as deriving accruing incentives thereto, such as acting appointments, the IGP has further directed that PMF training schools be moved from ‘B’ Department and placed under ‘E’ Department. 3. PRUNING DOWN THE STRENGTH OF THE PMF In a bid to downsize the Squadrons which had become over bloated with personnel into a compact and manageable/reasonable number to make for operational readiness/fitness: the IGP has directed the implementation of the under listed measures, viz; (a) The strength of a Squadron should henceforth not exceed 700 except in special areas of high crime wave, population density and Embassy Guards e.g. Lagos and Abuja, the strength of the Squadrons in these 2 states may exceed 700 but not above 1000. (b) From henceforth, embargo is placed on Squadrons whose strength is more than 700 except those under special areas as mention in paragraph (a). (c) Squadrons whose strength are below 700 are to mobilize to make up the required strength. (d) That the number of SPO’s in a Squadron should not be more than 19, viz; i. One Commander ii. One 2i/c iii. 10 U/Cs iv. One Admin Officer v. One Provost vi. One Armoury Officer vii. One Pay Master viii. One Training Officer, and ix. One Workshop Officer. (e) To ensure even distribution of SPO’s in the Squadrons, Officers and men who are still suitable to be in the PMF and those who attended the recent conversion course and found suitable shall be mobilized and moved to fill the available vacancies where they exist and the excess shall be demobilized and be redeployed as Q.I.U Officers at different State Commands. 4. POSTING OF SQUADRON COMMANDERS The IGP has directed that the postings of Squadron Commanders shall reflect Federal Character/Geographical spread such that each State should be represented. As a follow-up to this directive, the IGP further directed that Squadron Commanders at the point of entry shall be between the ages of 35 – 40 years: should be holders of minimum of a Diploma Certificate and shall undergo Mobile training course before being considered for the post. 5. DEMOBILIZATION OF SQUADRON COMMANDERS/UNIT COMMANDERS The IGP has also directed that all Officers who have served in the PMF either in one Squadron or different Squadrons for 4 years and above either as Squadron Commanders or Unit Commanders shall be demobilized and posted to duties within the Force so as to enable new and fresh hands be mobilized to gain experience. Implementation to be commenced in earnest with the 1st quarter of 2010.
