PRESS RELEASE RE:SECURITY ENQUIRIES – REFUTAL The attention of the authorities of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a nefarious message with the caption “SECURITY ENQUIRIES” being circulated in the internet. The said message which originated from a faceless author is falsely purported to have emanated from the Nigeria Police Force, allegedly warning the public that some named places in Nigeria, are hot spots for ritual killing. Some Police emergency telephone numbers were cited in attempt to convince the public of the reality of this phantom alarmist message. The Nigeria Police hereby unreservedly, refutes the reality of this information and categorically declares that it is false, untrue and a complete phantom figment of the imagination of a faceless author who does not mean well for the general public and the inhabitants of the affected areas, in particular. The Force strongly states here that it never at any time originated, published and circulated such infamous and alarmist information. The Nigeria Police Force neither knows nor has anything to do with the faceless author of the said message and therefore, vehemently dissociates itself from the message and its author. The Nigeria Police categorically assures that the places and areas allegedly described and branded as hot spots for ritual killing, have never been found, identified or known to be spots of any type or nature of crime; including ritual killing. The affected places are therefore, as safe as any other place or part of Nigeria. The public is therefore advised to discountenance, ignore and treat the message as false and baseless. The Force strongly admonishes the author and person(s) circulating this falsehood, to desist from embarrassing the Nigeria Police and the public. These persons are sternly warned to stop portraying Nigeria in bad light before the international community. The Nigeria Police Force assures the general public, including foreign visitors to Nigeria, of its unflinching commitment and readiness to provide security to all-and –sundry, irrespective of their geographical location in Nigeria. Nigeria is safe. ACP EMMANUEL C. S. OJUKWU FORCE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER FORCE HEADQUARTERS,ABUJA
